Michael Mefford, D.M.D

Background

Dr. Michael Mefford is a 2002 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where he served as President of his class and received honors from the American College of Dentists, including recognition as the Outstanding Student Dentist in Cosmetic Dentistry. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Milligan College in 1997.

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Mefford moved to Johnson City to attend Milligan, where he met his wife, Jamie. They now reside in Johnson City with their three children—Lily, Graham, and Maxwell—and their dog, Wilson, who enthusiastically joins Dr. Mefford at the office on most days.

Dr. Mefford is passionate about delivering exceptional, individualized dental care rooted in compassion, integrity, and clinical excellence. He is committed to lifelong learning and has advanced training in dental implant placement, prosthetics, digital dentistry, and Invisalign orthodontics. He maintains active membership in the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has served as President of the First District Dental Society and as Chairman of Membership for the Tennessee Dental Association’s First District. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, one of dentistry’s highest honors, recognizing outstanding professional achievement and humanitarian service.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mefford is deeply engaged in humanitarian and civic service. He serves as a Technical Adviser for The Rotary Foundation, supporting international humanitarian projects, and previously served as Grants Chair for his Rotary District, managing humanitarian grants locally and around the world. He spearheaded the Rotary Park Boundless Playground project in Johnson City, bringing the region’s first all-access playground and splash pad to life. He also served on the Task Force responsible for developing the Tweetsie Trail, the popular rail-trail connecting Johnson City and Elizabethton.
